This would be due to the PI’s processor limitations and speed and it will show that the Pi3’s processor handles the encrypted math much better than the Pi2. You will see that raw speed greatly decreases once the VPN is switched on an encrypted. The below graph will show the VPN affects on my 85 Mbit service. I’ve been concerned with the d/l speed loss when using the PIA VPN on my OpenElec (6.0.3) Raspberry Pi’s … so I did some testing. How you do this is to push the options button when on the gateway list and then select the option.
